Conclusion

Poe was the master of short story and narrative poem. He has a talent for writing the twisted and the macabre, while being able to delve deep into the human psyche to uncover the monsters within us all. Poe longed to uncover the mysteries of life and death, and did so by looking into the darkest corners of the human mind; a feat he achieved by self analyzing his own fears and morbidity. As a man who lived in poverty and depression, while suffering through the loss of his loved ones, Poe had often traveled to the dark recesses of the mind, allowing him translate those thoughts and feeling into the written word and become the Gothic writer we so love and celebrate today.
